Webmaster's blog - featuring topics related to SEO, web development, graphic design, content creation and social media marketing.
In the last couple of months I am hunting for successful Internet markets and blogger. Actually, I’ve met Mavis Nong online a couple of months ago, dropping a comment on her blog and actually and requesting an interview with her, at that time WebmaisterPro was in alpha testing stage. After several months we’ve met on Facebook and I again. So here is our exclusive interview with Mavis Nong.
Mavis, can you tell us more about you in few sentences?
I’m a blogger and an online marketer, helping people to build profitable businesses using cutting-edge marketing strategies. I also share mind-blowing blogging tips to help others build amazing and money making blogs fast.
How and when did you start blogging and Internet marketing?
My desire for entrepreneurship stemmed from childhood. Ever since I was 5 years old, I had a drive to run my own business. When I was playing with my friends and cousins, I preferred playing a storekeeper, using my mum’s calculator for a cash-till. I was also inspired by my mum as she worked from home selling different things.
Little did I know that I'll end up working from home, too.
When my first daughter was born, I knew that I wanted to be a major part of her life, watch her grow and working full-time away from home, would not make that possible.
I got online back in April 2009.
Today, I am the master of my own business. I do online marketing from the comfort of my own home, while being able to raise my two beautiful daughters. I couldn't ask for more!
Your blog is very attractive, do you think typography, color scheme and text highlights can increase number of loyal readers?
Thank you very much. Yes, the design of your blog can attract or repel your visitors.
I’m not talking about spending lots of money on design and getting obsessed with how your blog looks. Go for a simple, clean, professional and uncluttered design and only keep user-friendly and necessary features on your blog.
If you have a busy, cluttered and unprofessional looking blog, you just going to annoy your readers and send them away for good.
Tell us more about your books
My favourite books of all time are Think Rich, Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, The Slight Edge by Jess Olson, Twelve Pillars by Jim Rohn and Chris Widener.
Where do you find inspiration?
I listen to and read inspirational audios and books.
What is your typical day routine?
Content creation and promotion and networking
Content, Design or Networking? Which is most important and how to you prioritize this?
I start my day with publishing a post and promoting it, followed by networking. I’m not spending a lot of time on my blog design, as I’m only making changes every now and then.
What would be the biggest mistake you’ve made as a blogger?
The one mistake that comes to mind is, I had the built it they will come mentality as many new bloggers do. And looking back, I’m like what was I thinking? But, I didn’t know any better then.
Blogging goal for 2012?
My goal in 2012 is to double my traffic and increase the conversions.
